Kurt Petersen received his B.S. degree cum laude in Electrical Engineering
from U.C. Berkeley in 1970. In 1975, he received a Ph.D. in EE from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Petersen established a micromachining
research group while at IBM from 1975 to 1982. Since 1982, Dr. Petersen has
co-founded three successful companies in micromachining technology, Transensory
Devices Inc. in 1982, NovaSensor in 1985, and Cepheid in 1996. All of
these companies have become technical and commercial leaders in the field of
MEMS devices and applications. Dr. Petersen has published over 100 papers
and has been granted over 25 patents in the field of micromachining.
In 2001 he was awarded the IEEE Simon Ramo Medal for his contributions to
MEMS. Dr. Petersen is a member of the National Academy of Engineering
and is a Fellow of the IEEE in recognition of his contributions
to the commercialization of MEMS technology.
Karen Drexler
Strategic Consultant
Ms. Drexler was President, Chief Executive Officer and a founder of Amira Medical,
an innovative glucose monitoring company which was purchased by Roche Diagnostics in 2001. Amira developed minimally invasive technology to measure blood glucose directly
with a virtually painless approach to blood sampling. As CEO, she was instrumental
not only in the design and development of the product but also in expanding the
company´s scope internationally, particularly in Japan.
Prior to founding Amira, Ms. Drexler held a number of positions with
significant responsibilities in the areas of operations, sales,
marketing, business/strategic planning and product development
during her tenure at LifeScan, a Johnson & Johnson Company that
develops, manufactures and markets self-blood glucose
monitoring systems for people with diabetes.
Ms. Drexler is an inventor on 12 issued U.S. Patents.
She was recently named Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year
by the Silicon Valley Women´s fund. Ms. Drexler is also a member
of the Board of Directors for several start-up companies.
Ms. Drexler holds a B.S.E. degree in Chemical
Engineering from Princeton University

Dr. Linda Guidice M.D. Ph.D.
Professor, Sanford University
Dr. Giudice is the Head Professor in the Department of Gynecology and
Obstetrics and Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology
and Infertility and the Division of Gynecology at Stanford University.
She is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
in general Obstetrics and Gynecology and in the subspecialty of Reproductive
Endocrinology. Dr. Giudice is the Director of the Center for Research on
Women´s Health and Reproductive Medicine at Stanford and is a basic and
applied researcher in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Dr. Giudice has served on NIH Study Sections and on numerous national
committees for reproductive health policy at the NIH.

Nick Halsey has over 20 years of experience working in
high technology and biotech in Silicon Valley. Most recently,
Nick was the Vice President Corporate Development and Chief
Marketing Officer of Alphablox Corporation, which was sold
in August 2004 to IBM. Nick has extensive sales and marketing
experience having worked at the executive staff level for
multiple high technology companies over the past seven
years including Brio Technology. Nick has successfully
raised multiple rounds of venture funding for a number
of different technology startup companies. Nick is currently
the co-founder and managing director of Rostrevor Partners,
a boutique consulting firm that provides strategic consulting
and financial services to high technology companies. Nick’s
breadth of knowledge, extensive experience, and industry
contacts make him an invaluable member of the Pria team.
Allison Wren Ph.D.
President, The Wren Group
Dr. Wren has over 25 years experience in product development in the biotech
industry, working at the executive level with industry leaders such as
Merck and Bristol-Myers Squibb as well as starting her own wound care company.
She is a FDA regulatory and compliance specialist in medical devices and
pharmaceuticals. She is an active angel investor and a member of
the boards of several startup biotech companies.
